Snorkel at Navy Dock, Graham's Harbor

May 14th, 2019

"Arriving to the beach at the Navy Dock felt like those scenes you see in a movie and wish you could experience. The water was crystal clear and looking out it was a mixture of blue and green. Right as I got into the water my body temperature immediately cooled down and I felt relief. The Navy Dock had become submerged after hurricanes had split it in half and submerged them down to the sandy bottom. This was definitely a very cool sight to see. Immediately right in front of me two turtles appeared. A smile spread across my face. Swimming alongside them and admiring their graceful swimming was the highlight of my trip. I then swam across to the cliffside where waves were beginning to crash against the rock. This is where I saw the Peacock Flounder camouflaged into the sand! Such a unique fish with a memorable look. The end of this swim concluded with finding a bright pink Queen Conch shell. Luckily there was no mollusk inside so I was able to take it with me. Today I had an experience that I will definitely remember the rest of my life." -Aisha, Senior
